Grand Opening: JMT-Art!

I'm so excited for Jenn Trippetti! She's just opened up her own store, JMT-art. She's got some brand new kits, a big sale, $1 items and a free kit with a $5 purchase.

And I think these alphas and words are a MUST have. She's got so many words in there and this bundle is a steal! You can check out Lots-o-lil Bits here.

Juanes tickets for sale

We have some extra tickets for the Juanes concert on 3.6 at Madison Square Garden. If anyone in the area is interested or if you know anyone who might be, we have the tickets up at Stubhub.

Feeling better

Thanks for the well wishes. The headache has finally subsided along with all the tension in my neck! I'm so glad it's gone.

So I told myself that I am not allowed to scrap or play with ACDSee until I knock some stuff off my to do list. And I managed to get a bunch of stuff done today. I went to the bank, took my car for a long-overdue oil change and returned a shelf to Linens N Things that I decided I didn't want a month ago. Then I treated myself to some Starbucks and spent some time reading before I had to head to work.

Still have three more things I'm hoping to knock off the list tomorrow - including getting my old computer fixed. I don't use if for scrapping, but I have all my banking, my resume, my music on there. I have been such a mess without it!

Still pounding

My headache is a little better - it mostly comes and goes now. I'm not looking forward to work today, where I usually get headaches anyway.

I was able to get a little scrapping done this weekend, in spite of the migraine. Here are my latest ...
Another page for my Christmas book using lots of Jenn Trippetti's stuff. Credits
I actually have a bunch of other pages using Jenn's stuff that I can't show off yet. She has some great stuff in the works!
Here's a scraplift of Melinda's I like cheese page using lots of Jessica Bolton's stuff. Credits
And I really love this photo of Kylie. I just adore this kiddo. Shes' so cute and funny and she always makes me laugh. And she's just not as bossy as her sister (for now) so we get along much better. LOL! I love Kim's hearts and have been dying to use them on a page. Credits.

The best thing about Oscars...

I thought that Oscar night was pretty dull, pretty predictable. Most of the celebs were dressed nicely (except Tilda Swinton - yikes!). I'm very happy for Daniel Day-Lewis (I drink your milkshake - anyone else sick of that yet!) and also because the song from Once "Falling Slowly" w0n.

But my favorite moment came from came from the post show with Jimmy Kimmel. He and Ben Affleck showed their response to Sarah and Ben's video, which I shared a few posts down.
I really want to know how they got so many celebs in it - including Harrison Ford! You can see it here.

Oh the drama!

I am going on day 5 of a nasty migraine. I spent most of yesterday at home in the dark and quiet, hoping that would help, but it didn't. So today my sister is dragging me out and maybe that will get my mind off it.

I did take a few photos yesterday of Rocky playing in the snow. I can't wait to scrap these...

Yes, Randi and Rocky have (sort of) matching coats! :)

I'm really hoping I feel better tonight because I'm going over to Betty's to watch the Oscars. If any one knows any good remedies for migraines, please share!!!

Leaning left ...

I just saw this on Mish's blog and it just goes to show you liberals and convervatives can be great friends! :)

You Are a Liberal Lady

Like Cameron Diaz and Drew Barrymore, you don't shy away from your liberal causes.

You may consider yourself a feminist, and you definitely trust your heart to tell you what's right.

You are likely to have a million issues you care about - and not nearly enough time to devote to them all.

I wish I was a kid!

Because I'd definitely be enjoying a snow day today! Here's the view from my bedroom this morning.

But, sigh, I'm a grown up, and I'm going to have to drive to work in this mess. It's also going to be a rough night since some people are off. I've been worrying about it since last night and that's probably why I can't sleep.

200 and counting

I'm such a dork. I'm excited that I just added my 200th friend in Facebook! :) (Hi Shawn!)
I love how easy it is to keep up with people since on there. I've added some current and former co-workers, my younger cousins, some of my scrapping friends who are now all over the place when it comes to all the different sites, college friends, high school friends and even one of my neighbors.

Scrapdish sale

I forgot to mention... There's a big sale on Mega Kit Add Ons going on at Scrapdish. Grab kits and albums for just $1!

I have been under a rock today

I don't know what to think about the latest news from Cuba.

Hereos and books

I'm watching some more of Heroes season 1 on DVD. I really missed a lot the first time around - especially considering I watched most of it on the computer and wasn't paying attention. You always notice more things on do-overs. Like Takezo Kensei's symbol is all over the place and I never noticed until season 2.

I also just discovered a site called Good Reads, so if you're on there, add me! I love making lists and have always kept lists of my books so this is fun for me! I used to love to play library as a kid. I wrote our names on all of our books, put them in order and kept them neatly arranged on our little bookshelf. Which reminds me, anyone remember Sweet Pickles books as a kid? I read a lot of these as a kid and it's one of those weird things I randomly remember.

Some things that make me chuckle

Warning... the following are not very PC or suitable for children! But I wanted to share somethings that I thought were funny! So don't look if you are easily offended.

I have had this song in my head for days now. It's Sarah Silverman "letting" Jimmy Kimmel know what she's been up to with Matt Damon.

And here's a blog from political cartoonist at my paper, Matt Davies. He won the Pulitzer a few years ago and he's going to be featured in a spread for Madd Magazine! I think he's a hoot - even when I don't agree with him. Super nice guy, too. :)

Trying to focus

I am always thinking of things I want to blog about, but I don't get around to them. I have become such a scatterbrain. I need to remember my word of the year - focus. Maybe I should print it out and hang it up at my desk to help me remember.

In the newspaper biz, we don't get holidays like President's Day today. So I hope those of you who have off enjoy it! I'm trying to do some stuff on the computer. I'm trying to organize some stuff I've downloaded and I'm working on ACDSee. I also ordered some more prints from Scrapbook Pictures. I wanted to get some extra prints to save for Mother's Day and I had noticed a few big problems (all on my part) with journaling getting cut off after my last order. I really do love their prints. The quality is fantastic and they came pretty quickly too. They are on sale so I ordered a whole bunch of pages - including some real oldies. I always think it's funny to see how much my style has changed and how much I've learned about photoshop since those early pages! Getting them all organized and in books will be a whole other project.

I've been trying to spend my weekends off the computer. So that gives me time to devote to one of my other current obsessions, Jane Austen. I've been re-reading Sense and Sensibility. I've been watching all the Jane movies on PBS's Masterpiece (including Pride and Prejudice, which I own), and I just watched Being Jane from Netflix. I'm going to need to get that one because I just love it. I watched one scene where Jane has been looking for Lefroy (played by the dreamy James McAvoy) at a ball and is stuck dancing with some rich guy who wants to marry her and then he just pops into the scene. I just love how it's filmed and choreographed - going on my list of favorite "sigh" moments movies. Well, after seeing that, I had to look up some stuff about Jane to see if the movie was based on any reality. Have any of you fellow Jane fans read any good biographies? I think I did some research in high school for a paper, but don't remember much. Anyway, I just sent back another movie I watched this weekend - A Good Year with Russell Crowe - also a good one, so now I can get the next movie in my queue - The Jane Austen Book Club!

I'm just remembering that I need to catch up with Krista on Lost! I was so busy on Friday I forgot to email. I went and got my taxes done, so now I just need to wait for my refund. Woohoo! But I was late for work because my accountant likes to take his time and I didn't have time to email. It was a pretty quiet weekend around here. I had the house to myself yesterday and I watched movies, read S&S and re-watched some of Heroes Season 1 on DVD.

Well, time to get back to my organizing!

Bah hambumg!

If one more person wish's me a happy valentine's day, I'm going to throw something at them! Keep your hearts and chocolates away from me!

Brrrrrrr!!!

It is so cold in Jersey today! The winds have been blowing like crazy since yesterday and my office is not well insulated so I think I'm going to have to go downstairs and work on the laptop.

I stayed away from the computer most of the weekend. I spent most of my time hanging out with my family and friends and had a lot of fun. Saturday we took Teri and Mikey out to Las Palmas with all of the Cabanas, including my crazy nieces. We had some good Spanish food and sangria. Kylie ate everything including the packets of butter - gross! The girl does not stop! LOL! Then we went back to Teri's for some coffee and fruit.

Yesterday, I went to a party for one of my co-workers who was leaving and also moving back to PA. It was really nice to see some of my friends from work out of the office. And a bunch of people who had left came to visit. I was there all afternoon and into the evening, so Melissa and I ended up going out to dinner afterwards and had so much food at The Cheesecake Factory.

Which reminds me, I have leftovers from last night! Think I'm going to go heat those up for some lunch now. But before I go, here's a page I did last week for my Christmas book...

These photos were pretty much taken in the dark so it was hard to tell what she was doing! Credits

Huckleberry Pinhead

That's the nickname Sawyer would give me if I was on lost according to the Sawyer Nickname Generator. LOL! What's yours?

Nailed it!

So I was so happy I finally beat Raining Blood on GH3 I had to take a picture!

And I also got my highest score on Buzz Time Trivia on Friday. That's a trivia game thing at the bar that I am sadly addicted too.

Someone starts almost every sentence with the word "Actually." She must get her bossiness from me! :) I used the gorgeous new collab from the SBG designers, Impressions of Romance.
Credits.
Jessica Bolton is the featured designer this month at DST - so if you're a gold member, be sure to grab this kit! Credits.
My cuckoo nieces looked so nice, but wouldn't pose for me! Credits.
T wrote a letter to my mom - isn't that sweet! Credits
And here's another one for my Christmas book. Credits. Some people have asked how this could possibly be a "scaled back" Christmas so I'm going to show you some Christmases past...

Here's 2005 and 2006 is below. My friend Betty always says it looks like Christmas threw up here! LOL!

I've been tagged

I got tagged by Melinda and just remembered after reading Amy's replies. So here's my take on this one...

1. Name your two favorite scrapbooking topics:
Rocky and myself

2. Where are the two best places you’ve been to?
Florence, Italy, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC

3. Name two things you do every day:
Check my email and worry about where I put my cell phone

4. Tell us two things that pretty much everyone knows about you:
I love being an aunt and I’m obsessed with pop culture stuff.

5. Tell us two things that everyone DOESN’T know about you:
I wrote a one-act play in high school that was performed in front of the school, and I got too scared during Indiana Jones & the Temple of Doom that we had to leave the theater. I still haven’t seen any Indy movies!

6. Tell us two things that got you into the hobby of scrapping:
My co-worker Betsy told me about SBB, 2Peas, Digi Chick when I was trying to learn more about photoshop.
And I wanted to make a book about all the concerts I have been too – a long forgotten project.

7. Tell us two things that you want to accomplish in the next six months:
I just want to scrap more and maybe do some more printing.

8. Name your two favorite scrapping tools:
Photoshop and ACDSee

9. Name your two favorite sources of scrapping inspiration:
My friends and browsing galleries

10. How has your scrapping changed since you started?
I used to be a one kit scrapper before ACDSee came into my life. And I used way too much drop shadows. I’d like to think my pages look nicer now.

11. What scrapbooking project have you yet to try but would love to?
I want to do more hybrid/altered stuff. I have a lot of ideas for some all-about me albums I want to do. And I want to paper scrap my girl scout photos. Got a bunch of stuff for Christmas for that project.

I'm going to tag Krista, Melissa, Meredith and Sarah. :)

Surrounded by good people

I hope everyone had a good weekend! I have been feeling like a crazy person lately (but what else is new?) because I've had a lot of stuff going on.

I spent most of last week organizing a goodbye party for three of my co-workers. These guys had been at the Journal News for ages - almost 100 years in all together - and they were just legends in our department and across the paper. One of our columnists wrote about them here. I collected some money for catering, had my mom make a cake that looked like the front page of the paper, and ran around picking up party supplies.

When I got to work on Friday, after picking up some soda and other last minute things on my way in, I realized that I didn't have my purse! My friend Toni helped me go through everything in my car and it just wasn't there. I was a total wreck. Driving back during rush hour would have taken me about two hours, so Randi and mom went down to the parking lot and to the store to check things out for me but nothing turned up.

I spent a good hour freaking out, canceling my credit cards and trying to get
started on my work for night. I'm glad I had the party to distract me. It was really nice, too. My boss and the guys leaving gave really nice speeches. Some people came in on their days off, a lot of the daysiders stayed to say their goodbyes and another retired colleague came to visit. The food and the cake were a huge hit. (My camera was in my purse so I didn't get photos. I'm going to get some photos from our photo editor.)

I had given up on my purse. Well, around 10 I called my mother to find out where my birth certificate was so I could get a new license the next day, and she had just gotten a call from the police department saying someone turned in my bag!!! And luckily, everything was still in it!

My faith in good people has really been renewed. Between the nice guy who brought back my purse and the good friends I have at work, I know I am a lucky person. We kept the celebrating going after work - and I realy needed a drink after the day I had! And it was fun to hang out with some of of my co-workers. We're going to try to do that more.

And the only other thing that made Thursday even better was that Lost was waiting for me on Tivo when I got home! :)

I am up pretty early today. I was tired yesterday so I was in bed by midnight. It was a pretty great weekend too. Randi and I saw There Will Be Blood. (Daniel Day Lewis needs the Oscar for that! Really great movie.) I hung out with my friends from the Rover - way too late again. My nieces, Grandma and Rocky came by yesterday. I hit Barnes and Nobles to spend a gift certificate and some coupons, and then made it home in time to watch the Superbowl. I was going to go out, but I was too beat. So I set up my laptop so I could scrap and watch the game. And then I was in utter shock as the Giants scored that last touchdown. You could hear horns honking late into the night around - what can I say people around here are weird. It was pretty exciting. I managed to get two pages done, but they are on my other computer so I will have to post them later. :)

It's going to be strange going to work later today. We'll be missing three people, but we have two new people starting. I have to try to get back to sleep - otherwise it will be a really long night!

Across the Universe Day

One of my favorite Beatles songs is Across The Universe and tomorrow is Across the Universe Day. NASA is going to be beaming the song into space! That is pretty cool!

Go Giants!

I have lots I want to blog about, but for now, I just want to root for the Giants! I haven't been a big fan for years - I haven't even watched a super bowl in awhile. But I still think it's fun when the home team is in the big game. So go Big Blue!!!!! And bring on the commercials!!!

(Sorry Correen! LOL)
